Boy Movie Casting in the Modern World

Introduction

What is the one striking similarity between legendary movies like Pistol Whipped and Man On Fire? If you are a movie enthusiast or critic, you will not miss the instrumental role played by Becky and Pita. One common thing about these two casts is their female gender and rather tender age. But Becky and Pita are not the only young female castings in both classic and modern movies.

There seems to be a general tendency to cast more young girls as opposed to boys in movies? So, what is it that moviemakers see in the fairer gender that inspires their decision to give more prominence to female castings? Read on to find out.

Why There Are More Girl Child Castings Than There Are Boy Child Castings

First and foremost, girls are believed to have a natural inclination towards the fine arts. This is why pursuits like singing and acting come naturally to them. So that means a typical audition for child actors is more likely to attract young girls than their male counterparts. And that holds even truer when the audition is for child models. The idea of hitting the runway in skimpy attire is something most boys will scoff at; but the very thing that girls will not think twice about doing. Boys will appear more drawn to hobbies like soccer, American Football and everything else considered more boy-like. This means that by default, there are more girls exposed to the world of the big screen, making them win more roles in movies than the boys.

Another reason why we have more girl castings than boys is because most film projects tend to target girls. Whether by accident or design, there is a tendency for talent promoters to believe their talent scouting projects are only complete when they have more female than male participants. This could also be inspired by the recently-popularized feminism movement that seeks to advance the interests of the girl child. Generally, boys are thought of as being able to take care of themselves. Instead, such opportunities are seldom granted to them.

The third, and possibly the most important reason why more girls than boys are cast in movies is because they add the much-needed gracefulness and sensual allure to movies. If you look closely, you will realize that contemporary movies only receive maximum reception when there is a female protagonist. And more so when the protagonist is depicted as some object of desire. Apart from violence-themed movies, movies with sex as the main theme have a way of being instant sensations. Think of a damsel in distress who is eventually rescued by a male hero who gets sex as his in kind payment! Of course, it is unethical to cast young girls in such compromising scenes, but being unethical does not mean it is illegal.

Is The Outlook All Grim For The Boy Child?

Not at all. Though the industry appears more conducive for young female actors, there are quite a few boys also making it big in this competitive arena. Perhaps, filmmakers have finally uncovered there are lots of roles that only the boy child can bring out.

For example, a notable name is Jaden Smith who is known to have successfully pulled various www.dvdbay.com roles when he was barely 10, In the modelling quarters, a name like Presley Gerber needs no introduction.

When it comes to movie castings, the boy child can perform just as well as the girl child. All we need is a change of attitude and creativity by filmmakers in the allocation of gender-based roles.
